Gift Ideas for Quilters
One day my dad asked me what he should get my mom for her
birthday, and I told him about this new fabric line from Cotton and Steel
coming out that he could pre-order a fat quarter bundle of. He thought that was
a good idea, and on her birthday, he presented it to her calling it the “Iron
and Steel fabric” we thought she’d like. A for effort, right? Ha, anyway months
later and he still says Iron and Steel no matter how much we correct him.
So if your special someone needs help picking a gift for you
this year or you need some ideas for your crafty friends, here are a few items
I’ve rounded up for Valentines Day.
Here are a few gift ideas for that special quilter in your life!
Fabric.
We quilters, always want fabric. Here are a new fabric
collections we’re loving right now. My best advice for you is to pick up a Fat
Quarter (FQ) Bundle, Layer Cake, Jelly Roll or Charm Pack. (Those terms funny
terms are just descriptions for how the fabric is cut and how much fabric is
included. If you’re in doubt, pick a fat quarter bundle or layer cake.)
I recommend picking a recently released fabric line or a
bundle of solids. Solids might sound boring, but there are many different types
of solid bundles out there. Pick an interesting one, or one in their favorite
colors. Other suggestions would be a low volume or Cotton and Steel Basics
bundle.
Still overwhelmed? Get a gift card to a quilt shop and let
them pick out their own fabric.
SWAG
Enamel Pins are very trendy
now. One of my favorite sewing pins by Justine Gilbuena, on Etsy,
Sewing and craft themed tshirts are also very popular right now. Here are two popular shops to check out.
